Highland Games HEavy EVENTS
Strength and sports in Celtic nations go back as old as time. One of the most iconic presentations and preservations of this strength, skill, and training is found in the Scottish Highland Games. Since the late 1800's we have seen four category branches of the great Highland Games tree: the Heavy Events, Highland Dancing, Solo Piping, and Pipe Bands. Less common, but as essential to us is the Celtic Wrestling; in Scotland known as Backhold Wrestling. Highland Games are the original family-friendly community gathering, similar to a Town Faire. We combine and integrate much of this into our annual event, celebrating inclusivity, community, heritage, and inspiring future generations.
1. The 9 Heavy Events: Similar to a decathlon, but with nine events. Two stone events, two weights for distance, two Scottish hammer throws, the iconic Caber Toss, Weight for Height (Over Bar), and the USA homegrown Sheaf Toss. Breaking the coupled events down further: 1. Braemar Put or Heavy Stone Throw. 2. Open Stone, essentially Shot Put but with a natural stone. 3. Heavy Weight for Distance. 4. Light Weight for Distance. 5. Heavy Hammer Throw. 6. Light Hammer Throw.
2. The Weights: Weights obviously vary depending on male and female classes. For the Open and Pro Classes, here are the weights and weight ranges you would expect to see: Braemar: 21-26# for Men, 13-18# for Women. Open Stone: 16#+ for Men, 12#+ for Women. Heavy Weight for Distance: 56# for Men, 28# for Women. Light Weight for Distance: 28# for Men, 14# for Women. Heavy Hammer: 22# for Men, 16# for Women. Light Hammer: 16# for Men, 12# for Women. Weight for Height: 56# for Men, 28# for Women. Sheaf Toss: 20# for Men, 12# for Women.
As you can see, this takes an incredible about of strength, technical skill, power, speed, and grit to compete and win at. Get ready for a world-class spectacle on our field.
You won't find anything else like it.

***SUBJECT TO CHANGE

Celtic StoneLIfting
'Clach Cuid Fir' and 'Clach Neart' have been a part of Celtic culture since it's known origins. We feel it is our sacred duty to make sure these ancient traditions of strength and initiation stand the test of time. We are incredibly blessed to be affiliated with leaders in the Celtic Stonelifting world.
Moreover we will have some incredibly special, some would say at the beginning stages of becoming "historic" stones. They are available at our Stonelifting Try-It stations, open to the public and everyne from toddler to elder are most welcome to give them a try:
1. The Lundstrom Lift: A personal testing stone of New England Highland Games and Stonelifting legend John Lundstrom. A dominating force in the 1980's and 90's as a competitor, he also started the Athletics programs for NHScots Highland Games at Loon Mountain, and the Quechee Highland Games. There are two different stone sets attributed to Mr. Lundstrom: The Lundstrom Walking Stones which are a pair of walking stones meant to be held side by side and walked for distance. The other, is The Lundstrom Lift: a 422lb atlas stone with a metal handle attached. This is lifted for time held, in one hand. Are you strong enough for The Lundstrom Lift?
2. An Cloch Bán: This magical stone was the start of the now world famous Irishman lovingly dubbed "Indiana Stones". David Keohan is accredited with revitalizing and rejuvenating the almost lost culture of stonelifting on the Emerald Isle. The Cloch Bán stone was his first training stone and one he established before we went on his powerful 5-year quest to bring the strength culture back. We worked together to freight this stone from Ireland, and it was inaugurated at our 2025 Home Games event.
3. Clach Fear Alba: This Scottish lifting stone was found and used by the legendary Stone Man, Martin Jancsics of Scotland. A direct student of Scottish Stonelifting legend Peter Martin, Martin Jancsics has authored the highly beloved book "Stonelifting: An Ancient Test of Strength Revived", and has become one of the worlds great figures on the subject. This is his first stone he used to train with before meeting Peter Martin and lifting The Inver Stone for the first time. Martin has decided to gift his 266# Clach Fear Alba to us at No Fame Games. And we could not be more honored.
4. "The Stone Man" Stones of Strength Challenge: This year will be the second inaugural Stones of Strength Challenge. Events include: the 266# Clach Fear Alba reps to barrel. The one-handed 422# Lundstrom Lift for time. And the combined 508# Lundstrom Walking Stones for distance. One day, one attempt each. Are you strong enough for The Stone Man Challenge?
